WHO Hospital Care for Children 1.4.0

The WHO e-Pocketbook offers current evidence-based clinical guidelines for pediatric patients in need of hospital care. It serves as the digital rendition of the widely recognized Pocketbook of Hospital Care for Children (Blue Pocketbook).

Intended for medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers responsible for the well-being of children, these guidelines concentrate on addressing the primary causes of child mortality prevalent in developing nations. These include:

• Neonatal ailments like low birth weight, prematurity, sepsis, perinatal asphyxia, and congenital anomalies
• Pulmonary conditions such as pneumonia, bronchiolitis, asthma, and tuberculosis
• Various forms of diarrhea including acute and chronic cases
• Fever, covering conditions like malaria, meningitis, septicemia, and rheumatic fever
• Severe acute malnutrition
• HIV/AIDS
• Surgical issues encompassing trauma and burns

The application provides detailed instruction on managing each child through different phases: Triage and Emergency treatment, History and Examination, Laboratory investigations, Supportive care and Monitoring, Discharge planning, and Follow-up.
